Arewa Youth October 1 Igbo Quit Notice

It will be recalled that Some Northern Nigeria youth groups on July 5, in Kaduna asked the Igbos in the State to leave and return to their south-eastern states. They declared “war” against all Igbos residing in the North, demanding they leave on or before October 1, 2017.
The groups that signed the declaration include Arewa Citizens Action for Change, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Arewa Youth Development Foundation, Arewa Students Forum and Northern Emancipation Network.

Despite the State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s arrest order, they (Northern Youths) are still living large in the State, as Nigerians anticipate October 1, the country’s National Day.
Resume of Resign Protest

The #ResumeOrResign protest was led by popular entertainer, Charles Oputa also known as Charly Boy.

Dissatisfied with his prolonged medical vacation, area father as he is fondly called led the anti-Buhari protest, demanding that he (Buhari) returns and resume official duty or resigns from office.

The anti-Buhari protest was however suspended after about 10 days of commencement. The suspension also came a day after the protesters were attacked at the Wuse market in Abuja when they tried to mobilize people in the Market to join their course.

According to Charly Boy, the protest was suspended to save lives.

IPOB agitation for secession/referendum

Although, the secession agitation by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had been on before the President departed the country for medical treatment. But it garnered wider traction when its leader Nnamdi Kanu, who was granted bail by the Federal High Court, Abuja, began to disregard his bail conditions.

He was expressly barred by the court from attending any rally or granting any form of interview.

The group also intensified agitation when it said that the forthcoming Anambra State gubernatorial election will not hold unless a referendum is being conducted for its course.

Although reports have it that the group has withdrew its threat to stop the conduct of the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.
Baddo cult group

Ikorodu area of Lagos State has been a ‘bad nightmare’ for its residents while the President was away. Members of the Baddo cult group are “serial ritual killers” who have been terrorizing residents of Ikorodu, molesting and killing residents of the area.
Many lives have been lost as a result of Baddo attack.

However, the Police recently discovered the group’s stronghold, a shrine located in the Agbowa area of the town.

In a video clip that went rife, the owner of the shrine identified as Alaka Abayomi, took police officers round the place, which had some graves.

Anambra bloodshed

No fewer than 15 people were confirmed dead in the recent gunmen attack at St Philips Catholic Church AmaKwa Ozubulu in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra State.

The victims were killed while participating in the 6am Mass when the gunmen stormed the Church, blocking the Church entrance and began to shoot sporadically. The incident which got many injured was widely condemned.

The police have since arrested some suspects linked to the attacked.

Apart from the Catholic Church attack, another church – the Assemblies of God Church on the Oguta road Onitsha, Anambra State was also attacked, seven days after Ozubulu attack.

At the Assemblies Church, one policeman and a civilian got killed.
