Many people who live with disabilities consider taking the plunge into business ownership, and this desire is especially common among veterans. Whether there are physical limitations, mental health issues, or challenges with a veteran’s health, owning a business can be a great way to bring in some income while maintaining flexibility and control of one’s daily routines. There are plenty of different businesses that those with disabilities can own, but some options work especially well by being both fairly lucrative and low-pressure.
Veterans bring a great skill set to business ownership
As Profitable Venture notes, many veterans will start businesses that tie-in to military-related fields. Owning a business as a veteran can be an enticing opportunity, and many people with a military background can be quite successful because they are already accustomed to working hard and maintaining structure and discipline. Even if there are health challenges or disabilities in the mix of things, it is possible to build a very successful venture.
Many people living with disabilities or veterans who are looking at business ownership will pursue retail or franchise opportunities. Entrepreneur shares that franchises can be a great fit for many veterans because of the leadership skills they possess and the determination and structure they bring to the table. Some franchises like Pillar to Post Inspection Services, Jan-Pro Franchising, Aire Serv, and Mr. Appliance Corporation have shown a solid track record of having veteran-owned franchises.
Some franchises offer discounts to veterans, and some offer more potential than others

Services such as home inspections, auto glass repair, signs, and heating and air-conditioning services draw in many veterans looking to start their own businesses, and these types of franchises often mesh well with one’s past military experiences. Some popular franchising opportunities even offer discounts off of the franchise fees, a very attractive option for veterans looking to transition into a new career.
Other home business ideas that can work well for veterans or those with disabilities include owning an ATM business or providing consulting services. Restaurant or retail franchises can be attractive options, but cautions veterans that retail stores, restaurants, travel and tour businesses, and transportation services can be challenging businesses to run. On the other hand, home health care services, computer or Internet-related businesses, and child care services are possibilities with a great deal of potential.
Veterans should utilize available resources that make the startup process easier
Many of these types of businesses also allow veterans to ease back into civilian life by maintaining a need for structure and discipline while also offering up flexibility. For those veterans anxious to own their own business, some support and resources can help pave the way and pin down the best fit. For example, Startup Veterans is one option that veterans can use to get a handle on various business possibilities and they offer a solid support system to help make things happen.
The Small Business Administration recommends utilizing the Boots to Business program, a training and education program that guides veterans through the process of starting up their own business. It is imperative that those with veteran’s health challenges or people with disabilities move forward on business ownership methodically and carefully, and these resources can have a big impact on that front.
When one’s military service days are over, it can be difficult to adjust to civilian life. For many veterans, especially those who come home with disabilities or mental health challenges, owning a business can be a desirable next step. There there are numerous types of self-owned businesses that can become successful, but some are a better fit and more lucrative than others. Finding an opportunity that is a great fit can be a challenging venture, but one that is packed with potential rewards as well.

“This was the same technique MMM used to scam South Africans” – SA man mocks Nigerians

Reactions are coming in from South Africa.. People from South Africa are alleging that this is the same way MMM crashed in their country… and we couldn’t help but make a little research.

Find below a report by some media outlets in South Africa, the day MMM announced they were going on a break:

Controversial “donation platform” and alleged Ponzi scheme, MMM South Africa collapsed and rebooted amid what it calls a “media panic”.

In a notice posted to participants of the scheme after it happened, the group said that “persecution against MMM organized by the mass media” has provoked a panic which has forced the scheme to “start all over again”.

The group’s administration said that the scheme’s currency – “Mavros”, named after the scheme’s founder, convicted Russian fraudster, Sergey Mavrodi – had been frozen and were impossible to use.

The group blamed the collapse of the system on media reports and South African banks, which it alleges have hurt and robbed “millions” of people who were part of the MMM scheme.

The scheme said it has started over with a clean sweep, with a plan to compensate users for any Mavro funds which were frozen.

The “old” version of the Mavro currency will be ‘bought out’ through trades of the “new” version of the currency, where equal value would be paid out to participants over six months, using 10% of total trade – effectively placing a debt burden on all participants.

The notice popped up on participants’ dashboards over the weekend (1 May 2016), but was no longer appearing by Tuesday, according to users. The notice was captured and posted to social media:

Dear participants!

Unfortunately, the persecution against MMM organized by the mass media has provoked a panic. We have been working in South Africa for almost 2 years and we have millions of members. During all that time, we had no complaints and accusations from participants, everything was paid to everyone in time and in full amount, by 30% per month. We held charity events and helped children. We did a lot of useful things for people! Well, who was suffering from this?

The bankers and the adherents of the current unjust financial system. That is why they planned and brought all these crazy investigations and persecution in the mass media. “The only thing which prevents the investigation is the fact that non of the participants reported to the police”. If there are no complaints, and everybody is happy, then what is the investigation for? What is the subject? Did not they understand the consequences? Did not they understand that their irresponsible actions would hurt people? Millions of people! Well, try oppressing any bank, even the most reliable one, in the same way, and see what will happen tomorrow.

However, it is futile to explain that to them. MMM prevents banks from robbing people, that is the only reason why all this is happening. And nobody cares about people. If we managed to pay millions of participants 30% per month for two years (and would still be paying, if the mass media did not lie about MMM!), why do banks not do the same? Why do they offer only a few percents a year? Make your own conclusions. Thought everything is clear right now. You are simply robbed, we have always been saying it. The modern financial system is predatory by nature. It is not for ordinary people, it is for the bankers. Its purpose is financial slavery! And it achieves this purpose perfectly.

In general, in this situation, we have to start all over again. We have no choice. You can see on your own what is happening.

1. The current (“old”) Mavros are frozen. Any operations with them are impossible.
2. With the development of the system, we will send 10% of the total inflow (of all the PHs) to pay for the “old” Mavro. According to the experience of other countries, we can definitely say that in the normal course of events, all the old Mavro debts will be paid off in about six months.
3. “New” Mavros (Mavro bought from the moment of this announcement) are introduced. You can use them on a common basis: to ‘acquire’ and ‘withdraw’ them at any time.

All of this, of course, is not very nice, but it’s not the end of the world. We will quickly pay off “old” Mavro debts, no doubt about it. You just have to wait. (And anyway, you can thank your precious media and banks for this “gift”!). The best thing you can do is just to start participating again, that is all. And you will quickly return everything, even with a benefit. Moreover, now is the most favorable time to participate and invite: in fact, everything starts from the beginning. So do not miss your chance! :-))

We hope for your understanding, Administration.

Some reactions from South Africa:

Mmm is happy to scam nigeria people to pay other nigeria in mmm because nigeria people re very stubborn desperate the warning but many still invest in mmm.

U can cry ooo but don’t commit succeed.. It your risk n your faults.. No one to blame. Greed people only join mmm

LOL u should have learned from your brothers and sisters here in south africa , our old mavro maoney is gone as we speak and MMM is at silence as we speak so watch out for this ponzi schemes i have also learned my lesson here in south africa but atleast is not to much money that i lost

Some reactions from Nigerians:

Why do people take interest in others downfall? Why should we pray for others to for misfortunes? Am not an MMM participant, i don’t pray for its crash because, i have seen a lot lives been turns around for good by MMM.Googluck to all…

MMM crash ke? guys wey go carry stroke dis dec go yapa ehn nd Very soon we will start seeing love stories like, We first met on MMM,they Paired us both but she kept on asking for extension which I did.But I noticed she had a nice voice.I then checked WhatsApp,her pic was so dope and we started from there and here we are today.

I got helped this morning and was matched with someone to pay me. Una go crash before mmm crash

The trust is , what happened now is because every one wants to get their money back because of the holiday and not put money. So there is no way it will not affect the system. So the pause mode is to reduce the pressure to take money

Freeze / block na dem sabi. But all I knw is that this their Moku Mogbe Modaran (MMM) of a tin am not interested. Pennywise (sogun di ogoju) don teach me lesson.but me I will keep on warning my people cos this kind thing is real in Abroad but Nijaaaaaaaa! Guys e ja ara yin.Na starting dem get but d finishing………it is well

What I don’t understand is why they won’t announce the freezing to their participants before now, making people say lots of different things. Now even some bastards are making emphasis on how cbn has been warning people about the scheme without them giving any reasoning about who cbn epp, what has the government at large been doing for its citizens? Why won’t people take risks when all we do is work daily without payment, when people are dying of hunger and the so called government are living large buying exotic cars and building mansion everyday without doing no good for the people….. Now people are saying the scheme has crashed? Wow🙊🙊🙊tho am not a participant but then I don’t wish it so. Have heard people say Carpenters should start making lots of coffins because when something like this is gonna happen, people go just dey fall die and die for roadside……And have also heard another meaning given to the so called mmm, people say it’s wen it crashes that the people will understand its true meaning(moku mogbe modaran) God help us….

Come to think of it. The month self don almost finish. Christmas is next week So time fly’s, In no time it will be over. The only people I have concern for is those that

Lazy people. You sleep at home all day and want your money to grow and yet you want Nigeria to be great. This is exactly what Trump said about you guys. I mean you guys. Not the wise ones.. Imagine how great the world would be if everybody gets to invest solely on mmm. Be wise.

now linda has shown to Nigerians that she is once again a liar, condescending bitch that will say anything just to make most of the fools that commented on  this post happy, do your proper investigation before posting . this girl truly has cancer do u think its everybody in the world that is as desperate as you, do u think its everybody that will tell lies coz they want to make money like you do here everyday. to all the idiots that said rubbish here if u dont know lemme tell you , truly cancer has no cure but we have doctors and we have doctors, because a doctor said there is no cure doesnt mean another doctor still wount offer u a second opinion, the money Nigerians are contributing isnt a guarantee that she wount die, its just to give hope to her and her family, you wount know until you are affected, you will always want to look for a solution even if the chances are smaller than a percent and it involves you trekking to china, you wount wanna give, not everyone is a looser like most of you here that wount reason before commenting, linda said luth but whats on her gofundme acct is reddintgton. coz many of u broke ass didnt contribute are tryna make ur self feel good by not contributing, more revelations will start coming out and many of u will start to receive sense, and as usual this stupid libeler will not apologize or retract this post. The poor girl myt prolly not survive it but it doesnt mean she still dosent deserve for her condition to be doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve to be hopeful were talking about LIFE here guys, and even if she dies wount the money help those that she is leaving behind, her family, they spent every kobo to ameliorate mayowa’s condition, nigerai is ban Nigeria is bad no be nigerians they worsen situation for nigerians….  dis will come out as anonymous but for those who dont know am popularly referred to as SMDASE.

And that’s how that idiot toyin was just yapping her mouth any ow, one of the reasons you will never last in marriage, when you don’t calm down to verify before jumping into conclusions, just showcasing urself to be nuffin but a 2bit bimbo, if you had joined he campaigned with sincerity of purely helping the poor girl in d first place  when d old had or one of her lowly minions posted the info you would have taken your time to know if there was any truth in what linda posted , but no you joined the band coz u wanted people to see u doing charity so when  u heard abt the hoax ure d first to dissociate ur self from it, yapping un and down with bad grammar like a market woman. You need to learn to calm down, u even cry better that that in ur cheap low rent production movies you half baked talented hypocrite. Am taking this personal coz you and linda are about pull one of the most sensitive defamation in Nigeria all coz ure tryna salvage wats left of ur battery low career, if linda don’t get sued to jail after this am in support of wizkids OPTION B.

In my own opinion,i think it is senseless of whoever published this scam story to have done that in the first place. This new cannot change anything but rather make it worse, all those who supported a suppossed sick Nigerian will only feel scammed, cheated and dissappointed and are not likely to give any help to any other persob that genuinely needs help agaun. If they feel they have successfully scammed us,then its between them and God. The writer of this report should have weighted the consequence of this kind of newa and realize it has no positive effects and not one that should have been circulated. I now watch all those who were not caring enough to help a sick and needy person laugh and mock all of us who felt it was morally right to support Mayowa with our widow’s might. I really dont think that information was worth it!

And because I know this blog is biased and may not post my previous comment, I just need you guys to really think about this! I’m not gonna say doctors in Nigeria don’t know what they’re saying or they’re not good doctors but they’re not th best doctors in the world. We all know that. And as Nigerians, we know how to give up on each other so quickly (case in point)! If doctors in Nigeria say her cancer is advanced but doctors abroad know that she can be treated and given more time than the death sentence she’s been condemned to in Nigeria, she should just give up on her own life?!!! I wish people would take a moment to think deeply before rushing into judgement. Does anyone know of a cure for cancer? FYI, no form of cancer has a cure anywhere in the world. But with proper care, patients can live longer lives in better conditions instead of just sitting at home and waiting for death. Think people!

I think it is not fair to conclude this is a scam. Like most Nigerians, despite what doctors tell us we always feel there is some miracle out there that may help us get back to good health. Her family may genuinely want to explore all possibilities for her even if it means going abroad. I have seen situations like this repeat themselves. When you get money from crowd funding, situations like this are bound to happen and everyone becomes a stakeholder. Let this lady enjoy her dying moments and even if she uses 100,000 to secure the future of her kids, that is not an issue.

Oh come on guys! Like seriously?! Is Linda’s mouth/blog golden that every stupid thing she puts up is believed. Like think about it for a second! I can understand the need to believe something that negative because you feel invested through your contribution but come one really?! Unless you personally know this Mayowa and the story (which I do!) you don’t get to pass out judgement based off of a blog where it’s not the first time they publish lies! And seriously, it’s not only “Nigerians” that contributed so you guys need to take a chill pill for real! Like yes your $5 here and there is greatly appreciated but please don’t act like that was your last dime someone scammed you out of when you’ve not even given the family a chance to get care for the girl. I’m actually disappointed to find that a lot of people in this day and age still easily fall for media crap!

So because Luth can’t treat a patient means she should go home now die…..who made luth the judge over whether a patient can be cured or not?The same luth that was treating her for Ulcer instead of cancer? And y didn’t aunt busybody Toyin make her findings before asking for donations?now she going back to the same hospital with police…..making a scene like shez in of her local movies….Linda please do your research before posting things on someone life…..

Not true..linda is jst a b***h.vry hrtless and fucked up mf..wonder if twas a woman dt gave birth2her

you see, from her facebook account, she had posts well over a year ago about living with sickle cell and and how she has had to fight for her life. it is not hidden that shes SS but it wasnt in plain sight for all to see or read about. alot of people didnt bother finding out her health history or life style.
Just before my wife was about to donate 2days ago, i told her, “this girl is a sickle cell patient, the money they want to spend is way too much to attempt to save her life knowing full well that the chances of for seriously ill again are if she is saved from the cancer”. she still went ahead to donate. my issue with #savingmayowa was that there were millions of nigerians who were in that same condition that could have been saved with positive results for us all to see and the money wont have been wasted or shared by relatives of the terminally ill. majority of the donors gave for one particular reason, because she looked decent, she looked pretty and she looked like someone that could have been in “our” social circle. fear of “this could be me o” drove most females to donate.
If she was from a poor home, many people may not have been moved which is unfortunate.
regardless of all the facts, Nigerians are still kind hearted from this noble act, whether its a scam or not, heaven surely rewards givers.

I feel it’s not a scam Linda, please retract the statement. If it was they would have not told people to stop donating on twitter. Also I feel the family member may not want to accept that the girl would soon go but would want to fight for her life while seeking medical treatment elsewhere.

Linda this is not really a scam per say.
The girl is truly ill and terminal so may be she and her family has spent their last kobo to get her cured.
The appeal for donations might just help the family to support her children or prepare for her eventual demise which have some costs.
So for me if you are a true and cheerful giver see it in this light that you have one way or the other helped a dying soul and not look at it as a scam as long as the girl and immediate family gets the money.
God loves a cheerful giver.

please lets stop castigating>>> #ThisIsNotAScam lets #SaveMayowa together.
lets all pray for mayowa’s safe surgery.

this is not a scam!
this is not a scam!!
this is not a scam!!!

When I saw she was a stage IV ovarian cancer patient and also an HBSS, I was surprised that Emory Hospital asked them to come. Here, at that stage, they would recommend hospice case. But then I thought maybe there was an experimental treatment they were willing to try. I was skeptical but thought, hey lucky lady to be getting that chance at life.
I don’t think you should tag the family as scammers though. They probably weren’t ready yet to give up on her even if the doctors did. They probably had every good intention of pursing further treatment even if they were told it would be futile.

Well said! I am a doctor, I knew her chances were slim, but seeing the once bubbly babe become like that moved me!plus I’m a doctor but I’m a Christian, I know miracles do happen It is well Nigeria

10yr old Nigerian girl accepted on university course in the UK to study maths degree

She spends her spare time in a similar way to many
other ten-year-old girls – playing with Barbie dolls and
making loom bands. But the key difference between
Esther Okade and other children her age is that she has
been accepted to study for a university maths degree –
despite not going to school.
Esther, from Walsall, West Midlands, has enrolled on an
Open University course months after she passed her A-
levels – and wants to study for a PhD before running
her own bank.
The girl, who gained a C grade in her maths GCSE aged
six, has joined the course which started this month. Her
younger brother Isiah is already studying for his A-
levels – also aged six.
The siblings are both home-schooled by their mother
Omonefe, who has converted the living room of their
semi-detached, three-bedroom house into a makeshift
Mathematician Mrs Okade, 37, said: ‘Esther is doing so
well. She took a test recently and scored 100 per cent.
Applying to the university was an interesting process
because of her age.
‘We even had to talk to the vice-chancellor. After they
interviewed her they realised that this has been her
idea from the beginning. From the age of seven Esther
has wanted to go to university.
‘But I was afraid it was too soon. She would say,
“Mum, when am I starting?”, and go on and on and on.
Finally, after three years she told me, “Mum, I think it is
about time I started university now”.’
Mrs Okade added that Esther – who will study for her
degree at home – was ‘flying’ and ‘so happy’ when she
was accepted by the university, and wants to be a
She said: ‘For now we want her to enjoy her childhood
as well as her maths. By the time she was four I had
taught her the alphabet, her numbers, and how to add,
subtract, multiply and division.
‘I saw that she loved patterns so developed a way of
using that to teach her new things. I thought I would
try her with algebra, and she loved it more than
Esther stunned her parents last year when she achieved
a B grade in her pure maths A-level.
She applied to the Open University last August – and
after a phone interview, an essay and an exam, she was
told in December that she had been accepted onto the
Her father Paul, 42, a managing director, added: ‘I
cannot tell you how happy and proud I am as a father.
The desire of every parent is to see their children
exceed them, and take the family name to great
heights, and my children have done just that.’
