Women with big butts have lower risk of heart attack, stroke, diabetes —Study

If you had doubts about the benefits of your big bum beyond its sex appeal, worry no more, as a study has found that thin people have a higher risk of killer diseases than fat people, since their fat goes straight to their heart and liver.

German researchers say women who are pear-shaped tend to escape this group, as the bottom and thighs are safer places to store fat on the body.

It means the fat is not transported to the essential organs, where it could lead to high blood pressure, high blood sugar and a greater risk of illness in later life.

The study’s lead author, Dr. Norbert Stefan, from the University of Tübingen, says, “It is better for people of normal weight to be pear-shaped rather than apple-shaped, so that weight is carried on the bottom half of their body rather than around the middle.

“The hips and thighs offer ‘safe storage’ for fat, stopping it from getting into the blood and reaching the organs.”

The researchers found those with bigger thighs and hips could be protecting themselves from diabetes and heart problems however.

Looking at 981 people with a high risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, they found those with smaller hips and thighs were at greater risk. This was based on MRI scans of fat distribution around the body and fitness checks.

Stefan says, “Fat in the hips and thighs is largely different from fat in the abdomen, called visceral fat. In pear-shaped people, these areas work like a sponge, with fat stored in fat cells where it cannot do much harm.”

The study, published in the journal, Cell Metabolism, suggests that putting on hip and leg fat could even be beneficial for some thin people with diabetes or heart problems.

The study suggests that being pear-shaped is better for lean people, while in overweight people it does little to help. The fat levels in their internal organs may already be too high for this to offer extra protection.

It concludes: “Genetic analyses suggest that metabolic risk appears to be determined by different pathways in normal weight and obese subjects.”

Disease Outbreak Claims Two, 25 On Watchlist In Lagos

An outbreak of cholera has reportedly claimed at least two lives, while 25 others are being treated in three local government areas Lagos State.

According to the Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, who was joined at a press conference briefing by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, in Lagos yesterday said that the outbreak had been traced to the Somolu, Oshodi-Isolo, and Surulere local government areas.

He said, “Twenty-seven cases have been listed by our epidemiology/disease surveillance officers as of today, July 25, 2017. Two deaths were recorded from the 27 cases.”

“In Oshodi-Isolo LGA, two cases were recorded. One was managed at a private hospital and he is alive, while one died at home.  In Surulere LGA, 14 cases were reported and managed at Randle General Hospital. No death was recorded.”
Idris added that six cases were recorded in Somolu LGA, adding that one of the patients died.

He explained that while four were managed at the Somolu General Hospital, one was managed at a private hospital, while one patient died at home.

“The main suspected source of infection is the contamination of water sources with faecal matter from faulty septic tanks and soak-away, following the heavy rainfall in the state. Samples of well water have been collected and sent to the Lagos State Drug Quality Control Laboratory. We are still expecting the results.”

“The clinical manifestations of cholera are nausea, profuse diarrhoea, vomiting (in early stages of illness), fever, and leg cramp. Later presentations are dehydration, shock or coma.”
“The medical directors of our general hospitals have been placed on alert and fact sheets on cholera forwarded to both public and private hospitals. Our community health workers are in the communities to prevent the spread of the disease.”

“Chlorination of water supply has been intensified, awareness campaign is ongoing.”

He added that two other cases were managed at the Mainland Hospital with no death recorded, while three cases were managed at the Gbagada General Hospital.

The commissioner, therefore enjoined the people to use potable water, saying sanitation was critical in reducing the impact of cholera and other water-borne diseases.
The outbreak was reportedly due to the heavy rainfall being experienced, and the aftermath of flooding in the state.

Excessive Use of Antibiotics Can Damage the System, Experts Warn

Martins Ifijeh
Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases expert, Dr. Yoav Golan has cautioned Nigerians against excessive intake of antibiotics, warning that this could damage vital parts of the body system.
He said taking antibiotics without prescription was wrong, adding that healthcare providers should explain to their patients why antibiotics was being given to them, in order for them not to mistake it for a regular or everyday drug.
“If I will have to estimate, I think 90 per cent of antibiotics used are unnecessary. I think there are a lot of interactions that can be done between healthcare providers and their patients. They have to spend more time with patients.
“When antibiotic is abused, the side effects can be diarrhoea, among others. If you use a lot of antibiotics, it will do you much more harm than good,” he said.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Development Services, University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, while making her speech said Nigerians were not cautious of infectious diseases, hence little is known by Nigerians about infectious disease.
According to her, Nigerians generally refer to malaria as fever without knowing that fever was just a symptom of many diseases. “Do you know we only have about 20 per cent of fever in children due to malaria, while the remaining 80 per cent are due to other health issues? Of that 80 per cent not due to malaria, about 83 per cent of it are treated mistakenly for malaria whereas they are not.”
While calling on Nigerians to be imbibe proper hygiene, she said defecating and urinating in drainage systems, was one sure way of inviting infections.
The conveyer of the event who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer, Global Infectious Diseases Initiative, Dr. FolarinOlubowale, said the event was organised to awaken the consciousness of Nigerians and to collaborate with physicians on infectious diseases.
“I decided to do this to bring awareness on infectious diseases into Nigeria and the possibility of having collaboration with universities and healthcare professionals who are interested in addressing infectious diseases, so that we can all look into the field and effectively tackling it.
“At the end of the day, I want to be able to go into partnership with established institutions to establish a centre of excellence which will be referral from all over. People with complications, infections will have experts attending to them
The Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, Dr. Jide Idris, said government has partnered with a number of organisations and persons tackling infectious diseases, adding that further collaboration was needed to address infectious diseases.

OPEN LETTER TO: LINDA IKEJI,HER BAND OF LOWLY MINIONS AND TOYIN AHIMAKU ON THE SUPPOSED SAVE MAYOWA SCAM #THISISNOTASCAM

SERIES OF COMMENTS FROM THE SOCIAL MEDIA IS WHAT MAKES UP THIS LETTER

now linda has shown to Nigerians that she is once again a liar, condescending bitch that will say anything just to make most of the fools that commented on  this post happy, do your proper investigation before posting . this girl truly has cancer do u think its everybody in the world that is as desperate as you, do u think its everybody that will tell lies coz they want to make money like you do here everyday. to all the idiots that said rubbish here if u dont know lemme tell you , truly cancer has no cure but we have doctors and we have doctors, because a doctor said there is no cure doesnt mean another doctor still wount offer u a second opinion, the money Nigerians are contributing isnt a guarantee that she wount die, its just to give hope to her and her family, you wount know until you are affected, you will always want to look for a solution even if the chances are smaller than a percent and it involves you trekking to china, you wount wanna give, not everyone is a looser like most of you here that wount reason before commenting, linda said luth but whats on her gofundme acct is reddintgton. coz many of u broke ass didnt contribute are tryna make ur self feel good by not contributing, more revelations will start coming out and many of u will start to receive sense, and as usual this stupid libeler will not apologize or retract this post. The poor girl myt prolly not survive it but it doesnt mean she still dosent deserve for her condition to be ameliorated.it doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve to be hopeful were talking about LIFE here guys, and even if she dies wount the money help those that she is leaving behind, her family, they spent every kobo to ameliorate mayowa’s condition, nigerai is ban Nigeria is bad no be nigerians they worsen situation for nigerians….  dis will come out as anonymous but for those who dont know am popularly referred to as SMDASE.

And that’s how that idiot toyin was just yapping her mouth any ow, one of the reasons you will never last in marriage, when you don’t calm down to verify before jumping into conclusions, just showcasing urself to be nuffin but a 2bit bimbo, if you had joined he campaigned with sincerity of purely helping the poor girl in d first place  when d old had or one of her lowly minions posted the info you would have taken your time to know if there was any truth in what linda posted , but no you joined the band coz u wanted people to see u doing charity so when  u heard abt the hoax ure d first to dissociate ur self from it, yapping un and down with bad grammar like a market woman. You need to learn to calm down, u even cry better that that in ur cheap low rent production movies you half baked talented hypocrite. Am taking this personal coz you and linda are about pull one of the most sensitive defamation in Nigeria all coz ure tryna salvage wats left of ur battery low career, if linda don’t get sued to jail after this am in support of wizkids OPTION B.

In my own opinion,i think it is senseless of whoever published this scam story to have done that in the first place. This new cannot change anything but rather make it worse, all those who supported a suppossed sick Nigerian will only feel scammed, cheated and dissappointed and are not likely to give any help to any other persob that genuinely needs help agaun. If they feel they have successfully scammed us,then its between them and God. The writer of this report should have weighted the consequence of this kind of newa and realize it has no positive effects and not one that should have been circulated. I now watch all those who were not caring enough to help a sick and needy person laugh and mock all of us who felt it was morally right to support Mayowa with our widow’s might. I really dont think that information was worth it!

And because I know this blog is biased and may not post my previous comment, I just need you guys to really think about this! I’m not gonna say doctors in Nigeria don’t know what they’re saying or they’re not good doctors but they’re not th best doctors in the world. We all know that. And as Nigerians, we know how to give up on each other so quickly (case in point)! If doctors in Nigeria say her cancer is advanced but doctors abroad know that she can be treated and given more time than the death sentence she’s been condemned to in Nigeria, she should just give up on her own life?!!! I wish people would take a moment to think deeply before rushing into judgement. Does anyone know of a cure for cancer? FYI, no form of cancer has a cure anywhere in the world. But with proper care, patients can live longer lives in better conditions instead of just sitting at home and waiting for death. Think people!

ITS FUNNY HOW YOU POSTED THIS WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT, YET WHEN YOU WERE ASKED TO POST THE ONE WHERE THEY ASKED YOU TO HELP, YOU DID NOT UNTIL LATER, YES YOU ARE A BLOGGER, BUT WAIT SMALL, GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT AND THEN BLOG. I KNOW BAD NEWS SELL, BUT NGWA, THIS IS LIFE AND DEATH. SO CHILL, LETS THE LIE OR TRUTH UNFOLD BEFORE YOU CARRY IT

I think it is not fair to conclude this is a scam. Like most Nigerians, despite what doctors tell us we always feel there is some miracle out there that may help us get back to good health. Her family may genuinely want to explore all possibilities for her even if it means going abroad. I have seen situations like this repeat themselves. When you get money from crowd funding, situations like this are bound to happen and everyone becomes a stakeholder. Let this lady enjoy her dying moments and even if she uses 100,000 to secure the future of her kids, that is not an issue.

Oh come on guys! Like seriously?! Is Linda’s mouth/blog golden that every stupid thing she puts up is believed. Like think about it for a second! I can understand the need to believe something that negative because you feel invested through your contribution but come one really?! Unless you personally know this Mayowa and the story (which I do!) you don’t get to pass out judgement based off of a blog where it’s not the first time they publish lies! And seriously, it’s not only “Nigerians” that contributed so you guys need to take a chill pill for real! Like yes your $5 here and there is greatly appreciated but please don’t act like that was your last dime someone scammed you out of when you’ve not even given the family a chance to get care for the girl. I’m actually disappointed to find that a lot of people in this day and age still easily fall for media crap!

So because Luth can’t treat a patient means she should go home now die…..who made luth the judge over whether a patient can be cured or not?The same luth that was treating her for Ulcer instead of cancer? And y didn’t aunt busybody Toyin make her findings before asking for donations?now she going back to the same hospital with police…..making a scene like shez in of her local movies….Linda please do your research before posting things on someone life…..

Not true..linda is jst a b***h.vry hrtless and fucked up mf..wonder if twas a woman dt gave birth2her

you see, from her facebook account, she had posts well over a year ago about living with sickle cell and and how she has had to fight for her life. it is not hidden that shes SS but it wasnt in plain sight for all to see or read about. alot of people didnt bother finding out her health history or life style.
Just before my wife was about to donate 2days ago, i told her, “this girl is a sickle cell patient, the money they want to spend is way too much to attempt to save her life knowing full well that the chances of for seriously ill again are if she is saved from the cancer”. she still went ahead to donate. my issue with #savingmayowa was that there were millions of nigerians who were in that same condition that could have been saved with positive results for us all to see and the money wont have been wasted or shared by relatives of the terminally ill. majority of the donors gave for one particular reason, because she looked decent, she looked pretty and she looked like someone that could have been in “our” social circle. fear of “this could be me o” drove most females to donate.
If she was from a poor home, many people may not have been moved which is unfortunate.
regardless of all the facts, Nigerians are still kind hearted from this noble act, whether its a scam or not, heaven surely rewards givers.

I feel it’s not a scam Linda, please retract the statement. If it was they would have not told people to stop donating on twitter. Also I feel the family member may not want to accept that the girl would soon go but would want to fight for her life while seeking medical treatment elsewhere.

Linda this is not really a scam per say.
The girl is truly ill and terminal so may be she and her family has spent their last kobo to get her cured.
The appeal for donations might just help the family to support her children or prepare for her eventual demise which have some costs.
So for me if you are a true and cheerful giver see it in this light that you have one way or the other helped a dying soul and not look at it as a scam as long as the girl and immediate family gets the money.
God loves a cheerful giver.

please lets stop castigating>>> #ThisIsNotAScam lets #SaveMayowa together.
lets all pray for mayowa’s safe surgery.

this is not a scam!
this is not a scam!!
this is not a scam!!!

When I saw she was a stage IV ovarian cancer patient and also an HBSS, I was surprised that Emory Hospital asked them to come. Here, at that stage, they would recommend hospice case. But then I thought maybe there was an experimental treatment they were willing to try. I was skeptical but thought, hey lucky lady to be getting that chance at life.
I don’t think you should tag the family as scammers though. They probably weren’t ready yet to give up on her even if the doctors did. They probably had every good intention of pursing further treatment even if they were told it would be futile.

Well said! I am a doctor, I knew her chances were slim, but seeing the once bubbly babe become like that moved me!plus I’m a doctor but I’m a Christian, I know miracles do happen It is well Nigeria

Man With ‘World’s Longest Manhood” Says Women Are Scared To Sleep With Him | PHOTOs

A man who claims he has the world’s largest penis
says women are too scared to have sex with him.
Super-endowed Roberto Esquivel Cabrera also claims
his manhood is actually a disability that leaves him
unable to work. Not only that, but the 52-year-old’s
18.9in member is so long that ladies are afraid of it.
The member hangs well below his knees and he wants
his ‘gift’ to be recognised by the Guinness Book of
world Records. Cabrera has approached health services
to support his claim he is disabled.
He said:
“Look where it is, it goes far below the knees.I cannot
do anything, I cannot work, and I am a disabled so I
want authorities to declare me as a disabled person and
give me support. Then, I want to go to the Guinness to
get recognition.”
And doctors at a health centre in the city of Saltillo, in
the north-eastern Mexican state of Coahuila, have
confirmed that “according to the scan” in 3D, it is
genuine.
A doctor there said the main part of his willy was just
over 6 inches long and the rest was extra skin.
Medical experts suggest troubled Cabrera might be able
to opt for a voluntary modification of his anatomy and
have a shaft reduction operation.
He was deported from the USA to Saltillo in 2011 and
lives alone in a room given to him by his brothers.

Enrique Iglesias Badly Hurt in Drone Accident During Concert

image

Enrique Iglesias was seriously injured when he grabbed
a drone that was buzzing during his concert. It
happened Saturday night in Tijuana, where Enrique was
performing to a crowd of 12,000. The drone is part of
the concert. He sometimes grabs it as it flies around,
showing the audience his POV. But this time he
grabbed the wrong part, and the drone sliced into his
hand. He went to the side of the stage for help, and he
was advised to pull the plug on the concert and get
immediate medical attention. But Enrique went on for
30 minutes, with a blood-soaked t-shirt. The singer was
rushed to the airport where an ambulance was waiting
to give him first aid. He then flew to L.A. to meet with
a specialist. Brave new world.
